[mlpack] Request for comments: move from svn to git (and Trac to github)

Hello again,

I wanted to separate this into a different email so that the discussion
doesn't get muddled (assuming threaded email clients... :)).

At the end of this summer I'll be leaving Georgia Tech (finally) and
this means that the subversion and Trac services provided to us by the
Georgia Tech College of Computing will no longer be available.

In my view the reasonable thing to do is move to git (it is 2014, after
all) and this is also complemented well by a move to Github. It is my
belief that this will help ease the contribution process, and
potentially even help the adoption of mlpack.

So I've experimentally ported the subversion repository (plus history
back to 2007!) to git and posted it on github:

  https://github.com/rcurtin/mlpack

and in the following days I will port the Trac tickets to Github issues,
and barring any serious concerns or problems with transferring to
github, I'll move the repository to be a part of the 'mlpack'
organization and we can start using that for development in general
(I'll have to update and potentially redo the website, too).

So the purpose of this email is twofold:

 * Does anyone have a serious problem with or a highly preferred
   alternative to Github?

 * If you have contributed to mlpack's svn repository under some
username, I can (and would like to) link these contributions with
your Github profile (if you have one), if you get me your Github
   commit name and email.
